Jane B. Fitting briefly to deliver HD Map
Janet Kaufman in place of Tom Zetterstrom was given the floor to make the presentation regarding a possible planting of a tree in Washinee Park to honor Arthur Taylor. Janet had a large map showing the existing plantings in the Park and an inventory of existing trees as well as a suggested list of a possible addition. More...
Chris Brennan presented Parking Plans for the Fire House in Lakeville. These plans were previously approved by the Planning & Zoning commission without any reference to the Historic District Commission. This was a contingency of the sale.
- Public Hearing an application for certificate of Appropriateness for the Parking Plan for the Fire House.
- Questions were raised about the advisability of parking along the narrow lane as well as cutting into the Park property for additional parking.
- Michael Swanson attended the meeting with questions regarding who was making decisions on the use of the old Train Station.
Chris Brennan was present for the Public Hearing on her application for Certificate of Appropriateness for renovation of the Lakeville Fire House from a Town Building to a commercial building.
Chris also submitted an application for Certificate of appropriateness for the Parking Plan for the Fire House. The Public Hearing was scheduled for the next meeting, June 9th, 2016 .
Chris offered to prepare a display of Historic Houses and Fences as a resource for the Commission.

For 9 Sharon Rd, Lakeville. This is the renovation of the Lakeville Fire House from a Town Building to a commercial building with restaurant and two retail areas.
The Public Hearing will be scheduled for the next meeting, May 3, 2016 –
Sobel 75, Main St. Placement of 19th C Cupola in upper field and 19th C Barn with fencing as pool house. Applications dated 2/2/2016.
Tomlinson 414- Salmon Kill Rd remove old garage – build new garage with living space above. Application dated 2/2/2016
Steve Belter presented an application for certificate of appropriateness for 414 Salmon Kill Rd. The request is to remove the existing 14x20 garage and construct a new 18x27 garage with living space above. Notice of a public hearing for the March 1st meeting will be placed in Lakeville Journal.
Architectural drawings and map are available thru the Town Clerk.
The meeting was opened with a Minute of Silence to honor our deceased Board member, Arthur Taylor.
It was noted that Lime Rock Park is a distinct Rural Enterprise District and is not part of the Historic District. The Village of Lime Rock was a company town manufacturing iron railroad wheels and is part of the Historic District as well as the National Historic Registry. Dard Hunter also started as an amateur manufacturing paper for stationary in a small shop in Lime Rock.
Curtis Rand presented plans from the Lakeville Conservancy for parks in Lakeville at the Junctions of Rte 41 and 44 and at the entrance to Lakeville Lake. Since there appear to be permanent walks etc involved this will require an application for Certificate of Appropriateness from the HDC . Candace will send a letter to Susan Galuzzo including an application form.
